P-Net enables seamless integration of individual POLAR components or cutting systems into the digital workflow through P-Net Connect.
Compucut: With over 25 years of expertise, we set the standard for reducing setup times. Cutting programs can be easily generated externally from the high-speed cutter by importing sheet layouts (CIP4 / JDF) directly from prepress or by manual entry. This virtually eliminates machine setup time.
CutManager: Connects P-Net online to Heidelberg’s Prinect Postpress Manager, seamlessly integrating it into the digital printing workflow. By exchanging job and production data, the P-Net Service CutManager enhances cost and performance transparency, as well as production planning.
Barcode: Prevents errors by automatically loading the correct cutting program, eliminating the need for time-consuming searches. The barcode reader is integrated into the left-hand light barrier housing of the high-speed cutter and can be activated via a button on the touchscreen monitor.
Description
P-Net not only facilitates the integration of cutting machines into the print shop workflow but also optimizes the entire workflow. At the core of this network lies the P-Net server, serving as the central control system for all P-Net services.
P-Net Service: Compucut®
The process dramatically reduces programming time to nearly zero, significantly boosting the productivity of the High-Speed Cutter. This system allows for the transfer of sheet layouts with real images, a feature exclusive to the N PRO model. Cutting program creation begins with digitally transferred sheet layouts from prepress (ppf/jdf), facilitating a seamless integration of digital data. Depending on the complexity of the layout, the generation of cutting programs can be manual or semi-automatic, particularly suitable for homogeneous sheets. The system automatically optimizes cutting programs by incorporating necessary comments, additional functions, and operator instructions to ensure the best possible sequence. Once created, the cutting program is seamlessly transferred to either the ESPV or the High-Speed Cutter, streamlining the workflow and enhancing operational efficiency.
P-Net Service: ESPV
- Central database enables storage of unlimited cutting programs.
- Facilitates faster and more efficient access for all network users.
- ESPV (External cutting program management) extends memory of cutting machines.
- Allows seamless transfer of cutting programs between multiple machines.
P-Net Service: Barcode
The process of searching for cutting programs, which can be time-consuming, is completely eliminated with the implementation of a barcode system. This barcode system automates the loading of the correct cutting program, simplifying the workflow significantly. In this system, the name of the cutting program, limited to 16 characters (NET, N PLUS), is encoded into the barcode. It’s important to note that direct encryption of cut positions is not feasible within this setup. The barcode itself can be generated from various data fields, including job number, job name, sheet name, and/or customer name, providing flexibility in its application and usage.
P-Net Service: CutManager
Operating data logging enables transparency regarding costs and performance, allowing for efficient monitoring of production progress on the High-Speed Cutter. CutManager serves as the interface facilitating data exchange between Heidelberg’s Prinect Postpress Manager and POLAR High-Speed Cutters. Tasks previously recorded manually are now automated, providing real-time updates alongside ongoing production processes.
